What is it
A-Level vectors extend GCSE ideas into three dimensions, covering vector equations of lines, finding the angle between vectors using the scalar (dot) product, and determining whether lines intersect.
Why it matters
Vectors in 3D are essential for A-Level mechanics (describing forces and motion in space) and are the direct foundation for vector calculus and mechanics at university level in engineering, physics and computer graphics.
Exam tip
When finding the angle between two vectors, write out the dot product formula (a·b = |a||b|cosθ) before substituting numbers — trying to shortcut this from memory is where most sign and calculation errors creep in.
