KS3 (Years 7–9) · Biology
Nutrition and Digestion
What is it
Students learn about the seven nutrient groups needed for a balanced diet, the structure and function of the digestive system, and how enzymes break down large food molecules into smaller, absorbable ones.
Why it matters
Digestion is the clearest everyday example of enzymes at work, an idea that returns constantly through GCSE biology in respiration, photosynthesis and homeostasis.
Exam tip
Learn the digestive system in order, mouth to anus, with one function per organ — sequencing and function-matching are the two most common question types on this topic.
