What is it
GCSE Foundation probability covers calculating simple and combined probabilities, using sample space diagrams and two-way tables, and understanding the probabilities of an event and its complement summing to 1.
Why it matters
Probability rewards careful, methodical listing over guesswork — students who systematically write out all possible outcomes consistently outscore those who try to reason it out in their heads.
Exam tip
For 'and'/'or' probability questions, remember: 'and' generally means multiply, 'or' generally means add — saying this rule out loud before calculating prevents the most common mix-up in the topic.
