KS2 (Years 3–6) · Science
Animals Including Humans
What is it
Children learn about the human digestive system, teeth and their functions, food chains, and how the circulatory system (heart, blood, blood vessels) transports substances around the body, plus the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on health.
Why it matters
This is the first time children study body systems (not just body parts), a way of thinking that continues directly into KS3 and GCSE biology's organisation and physiology topics.
Exam tip
Learn to draw and label a simple food chain with arrows pointing in the correct direction — 'energy flows from' — reversed arrows are one of the most common mistakes marked wrong.
