What is it
Children learn the requirements of plants for life and growth (air, light, water, nutrients, room to grow), the functions of roots, stem, leaves and flowers in more depth, and the process of pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal.
Why it matters
Understanding plant life processes in more mechanical detail — not just naming parts — is the bridge to cell biology and photosynthesis, which are studied formally at KS3 and GCSE.
Exam tip
Learn the three stages in order — pollination, fertilisation, seed dispersal — and one example method for each (e.g. wind dispersal, insect pollination); sequencing questions are common.
