What is it
Probability at KS2 introduces describing and comparing the likelihood of events using words (impossible, unlikely, even chance, likely, certain) and simple fractions, alongside a 0-to-1 probability scale.
Why it matters
Probability builds intuition for risk and chance that's genuinely useful in daily life, and the fraction and scale work here directly prepares a child for the more formal probability calculations they'll meet at GCSE.
Exam tip
Practise placing events on a 0-to-1 probability line — physically seeing where an event sits helps a child reason about likelihood far better than words alone.
