What is it
KS2 statistics covers interpreting and creating bar charts, line graphs, pie charts and tables, and calculating the mean, mode, median and range of a set of data.
Why it matters
Statistics is one of the most visibly 'real world' parts of primary maths — the news, sports results and school reports are full of the same charts and averages a child learns to read and create here.
Exam tip
When asked to find the mean, always double-check by dividing the total by the correct number of items — this single step is where most marks are lost in averages questions.
