Electricity and Circuits
What is it
Students build on KS2 circuits to learn about current, voltage and resistance, the difference between series and parallel circuits, and how to use an ammeter and voltmeter correctly to take measurements.
Why it matters
This introduces the quantities (current, voltage, resistance) and their relationship, setting up Ohm's law and circuit calculations that are a major, heavily-examined part of GCSE physics.
Exam tip
Remember ammeters are always connected in series and voltmeters always in parallel across a component — this exact placement rule is tested constantly in circuit-diagram questions.
