Advanced Integration

What is it

Advanced integration techniques extend A-Level Maths integration to more complex methods, including integrating using partial fractions, more advanced substitutions, and applying integration to find arc length and volumes of revolution.

Why it matters

These techniques unlock a much wider range of real integration problems that appear throughout physics and engineering, where the function to be integrated rarely takes the simple form covered at standard A-Level.

Exam tip

Before attempting a complex integral, always check whether it can be simplified first using algebraic manipulation or a known identity — jumping straight into a difficult method when a simpler simplification exists wastes significant time.
