What is it
At Higher tier, circle theorems extend to include the alternate segment theorem and questions requiring you to chain multiple theorems together within a single, more complex diagram.
Why it matters
Circle theorem questions at Higher tier are specifically designed to test multi-step reasoning — they reward students who can hold several facts in mind and combine them logically, a skill valued right through to university mathematics.
Exam tip
Write down every angle fact you can identify on the diagram as you find it, even ones the question didn't ask for directly — the angle you eventually need is often found via one or two intermediate steps you have to spot yourself.
