What is it
At GCSE, logic extends the KS3 introduction to logic gates into truth tables and Boolean expressions with multiple combined gates (AND, OR, NOT, and combinations like NAND) used to represent more complex decisions.
Why it matters
This is the mathematical backbone of every 'if' statement you'll ever write in code — understanding Boolean logic properly makes conditional programming intuitive rather than something to memorise by trial and error.
Exam tip
When constructing a truth table for a combined expression, work through it gate by gate in a scratch column before filling in the final answer column — rushing straight to the final column is where most errors creep in.
