What is it
Children learn to name the five senses — sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch — the body part associated with each, and to use them to explore and describe the world around them.
Why it matters
This is a gentle, tangible introduction to the human body that later grows into the nervous system and biology of the senses at KS3 and GCSE.
Exam tip
Match each sense confidently to its body part (eyes–sight, ears–hearing, nose–smell, tongue–taste, skin–touch) — matching questions on this topic are very common.
