KS2 (Years 3–6) · Mathematics
Fractions, Decimals & Percentages
What is it
This topic covers converting confidently between fractions, decimals and percentages — recognising that 1/2, 0.5 and 50% are three ways of representing exactly the same amount — and calculating with each.
Why it matters
Being able to move fluently between these three forms is one of the most heavily tested skills at KS2 SATs, and it underpins nearly every real-world use of maths, from discounts in shops to reading statistics in the news.
Exam tip
Memorise the common conversions (1/2, 1/4, 1/5, 1/10 and their decimal/percentage equivalents) by heart — recalling them instantly saves valuable time in timed SATs papers.
