Cyber Security

What is it

Cyber security is the practice of protecting computer systems and data from unauthorised access, damage, or theft — covering everything from strong passwords to recognising phishing emails.

Why it matters

As more of daily life moves online, understanding common threats (malware, phishing, weak passwords) and how to defend against them is a practical life skill, not just an exam topic.

Exam tip

Learn to name specific threats AND specific defences as pairs — e.g. 'phishing' paired with 'checking sender addresses and not clicking unknown links' — vague answers score fewer marks than specific ones.
