AI-Assisted Testing
What is it
AI-assisted testing covers the use of AI tools to help generate test cases, identify likely edge cases, automatically maintain test scripts as an application changes, and analyse test results — augmenting rather than replacing traditional testing skill.
Why it matters
AI tools are rapidly becoming embedded throughout the software testing workflow, and understanding both their genuine strengths (generating broad test case coverage quickly) and their real limitations (missing domain-specific edge cases a human tester would catch) is an increasingly essential skill for testing professionals.
Exam tip
When evaluating AI-generated test cases, always review them critically for relevance to the actual business logic rather than accepting them at face value — AI tools are excellent at generating plausible-looking test cases but can miss the specific edge cases that matter most for a particular domain.
