What is it
Students study the life cycle of stars, our solar system, orbital motion and gravitational fields, and red-shift evidence for an expanding universe and the Big Bang theory.
Why it matters
Space physics is often the most engaging topic for students and, on exam boards where it's included, provides some of the most memorable extended-response questions on evidence and theory (e.g. explaining red-shift).
Exam tip
Learn the star life cycle stages in the correct branching order (depending on a star's mass, it becomes either a white dwarf or a supernova/neutron star/black hole) — sequencing diagrams are the standard question format here.
