Advanced Probability

What is it

Advanced probability builds on measure theory to formally define probability spaces, random variables, and convergence concepts (like almost sure convergence and convergence in distribution) with full mathematical rigour.

Why it matters

This rigorous foundation is what allows the deepest results in probability — like the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem — to be proven properly rather than just stated, and it's essential preparation for research-level work in statistics, finance, and machine learning theory.

Exam tip

Keep very clear which mode of convergence a theorem is using (almost sure, in probability, in distribution, or in mean) — these are genuinely different conditions with different strengths, and conflating them is one of the most common errors at this level.
